Course Description

Each CAE® course is based on key competencies of association management. Each lesson has specific learning objectives and is easily adapted by the instructor to reflect the changing association environment. Each course is lead by a seasoned Certified Association Executive (CAE).

This is the fifth and last course in the Certified Association Executives (CAE®) Program. This course will enable you to match your personal competency challenges with those of an association. This learning project will assist in your personal development while enabling the association to develop and improve service to members.

Course Learning Objectives Include

  • understanding the importance of continuous learning for self and others
  • conducting a self-assessment and identify areas for improvement based on the career management plan
  • applying the knowledge and skills from courses CAE 100, 200, 300 and 400 to a project which focuses on a particular area of activity within an association

Course Duration & Delivery Method

The course takes place over 12 weeks and is delivered online. We recommend that you spend 10 to 12 hours per week working on the course.


In order to enroll in CAE 500, you must have successfully completed CAE 100, 200, 300 and 400. Experience working or volunteering in not-for-profit organizations such as professional or trade associations, issue specific groups and charities will aid learning. Managerial experience is recommended as well.
