50 Most Annoying Phrases You Hear at Work

With all due respect to the lovers of the below catch phrases, it’s time to address the elephant in the room. While many may see these overly used-terms as par for the course, let’s go back to the drawing board.

Overly used corporate speak will kill your communications. While not only giving your Millennial staff eyeroll inducing conniptions, messages laced with corporate jargon feel derogatory to the reader or listener.

GoToMeeting recently produced a fun infographic that outlines the 50 most annoying phrases you hear at work – and should expel from your marketing material immediately. With outliers such as empower - “the most condescending transitive verb ever,” according to University of California-Berkeley Haas School of Business, and I don’t have the bandwidth, which is an irritating way of saying you are too busy, take a look at the phrases below and do your best to expel them immediately.

Do you have any annoying phrases of your own that you’d like to add to the list? Let’s touch base in the comments section below and keep the ball rolling.

(On a serious note, if someone ever invited me to an “idea shower,” I’d probably run screaming.)
